Not political

For anybody who wants to believe this is some kind of Republican recruitment film and the antithesis of Fahrenheit 9/11.
In the trailer for this film they proudly say that it features music by John Cougar Mellencamp. Mellencamp is currently on tour - together with, among others, Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band - actively campaigning against Bush.
Don't think JCM had signed on making some kind of "Republican Statement" film.

This film is as political as you want it to be.

If anything, I think this movie is anti-political. The point of this movie is that this country isn't made up of "red" or "blue" - it's made up of coal miners, marathon runners, salsa dancers, and musicians. The heart and soul of America is its people.

Also, among the people they profiled (in fact, the only famous person they profiled) in the film was Ben Cohen of Ben and Jerry's, who is not exactly a Republican. They didn't discuss politics in the movie, but I would bet half the people they profiled in the movie were probably liberal, but it doesn't really matter. This movie was not about politics, it is about the spirit and uniqueness of America. A lot of people didn't like this movie because most of the people in this movie live in the so-called "flyover country" instead of profiling people who live in NYC or LA or SF. I think this is one of the most underrated films of the past ten years.
