How to do an "Average Jane"...

1) Bring in a hot guy and have a group of average-to-ugly women compete over him.

2) He'd likely choose a hot model once the hot models show up (let's face it, we're more shallow than girls), so rather than bring them in as a surprise, let him know in advance that the hot models will eventually arrive.

3) Have the hot models never arrive, so in the end he'd HAVE to pick an Average Jane! The joke's on him!

I posted this a long time ago...it is a show that will never be made. I think it would be brilliant, but it just goes against every cliche the networks throw at us.

I'm afraid nobody would watch it though. Would you want to watch a bunch of plain looking women compete for a hot guy? I have laundry to do that would be more fun.

I think seeing guys struggling and failing is more socially acceptable than seeing women being put down -- especially for something as superficial as looks...or lack of it.

" Would you want to watch a bunch of plain looking women compete for a hot guy?"

actually its gonna be plain looking women competing for a plain looking guy...even better (sarcasm...for those who dont get it)

they're casting for Average Joe 3 with ADAM from Average Joe 1.
how do you like them appples.

your right, even if the guy was good looking it would not be as fun for the reasons you said.

reply

Average hanes competing for a hunky sort of fellow could work...the producers just need to keep the guy really drunk for the duration of the show. Add 3 to any gal with each 6 pack consumed.

Get a guy drunk so he can look at "average janes"? Neither of the women had to be drunk just to be with the average Joes, and both have saught the good qualities. But when it comes to a MAN having to deal with average women, drunkeness is suggested. And to think, some people were arguing men aren't that shallow...

I for one have not said men are shallow, or not. Read any number of my posts for that point. But I seriously doubt you did anything resembling leg work.

I will say that there is a double standard when it comes to looks in regards to men seeking women. An average, hell even ugly guy, can trump many bad qualities by simply being successful. I call this the Donald Trump syndrome.

However, the quality of being successful does not seem to translate very well to an average woman seeking a good looking guy. Is it right? Probably not. It does, however, eliminate a certain element of guys that probably would not be good partners in the long haul of a relationship.

Secondly, lighten up you goofball. It was, mostly, a joke...even if partially true.

Sorry if I took your response too strongly, but I guess I was replying to other responses as well... Also, I didn't say that YOU said men weren't shallow - I said that "some people" were saying that. And what did you mean by legwork?

I do agree that men are able to win by finances while women do not have that luxury. Women are more interested in stability while men are more into looks.

Actually, if the show WAS unattractive women fighting for a hot guy... he'd probably just go for the woman who put out the most, or who was the best in bed. :-)

He doesn't understand things very easily.

I dunno, I think it would be really funny to watch "Average Jane". If its entertaining enough, I think people would check it out.

Thats true what you say about men and finances. But in my opinion thats even more shallow then just looking at appearance.

Hey Kimberwyn, you ever watch Match Game? Here is a sample word match:

"Blank" you and the horse you rode in on.

In answer to your statement, I understand you are a shrew.

Have a wonderful day.

I do not think NBC would put on a show that encouraged Average Janes to put out...they are not quite as low as Fox. But if that were allowed I think you are right.

And it is cheaper then the staggering bar tab the guy would have to rack up in my scenario.:)

reply

You don't think they'd encourage it? Apparently the whole "in the woods" scene was fabricated (or the sounds were, anyway) in Joe Millionaire - that's pretty low. Did you ever see that? If not, I can explain.

reply

Yeah I remember that woods bit in Joe Millionaire (admittedly not a show I was all that interested in, but my wife really liked it...so I took one for the team).

There is always a fine line between the production people encouraging situations and making them happen. In Average Joe's case they make no pretense about it, given the legalese at the end of the show.

So yes I agree and I know exactly what you mean.
