He proved that he's more than just a funny-man. He really can act.

You should see Stranger Than Fiction, he's good in both but in that one more.

It was also nice to see Zooey and Will in another since Elf

Because of this movie Will just moved out of the comedic shlub category and into the pretty darned fine actor category. I was floored by his performance.

Still think it might have stood a touch more cowbell though....

I disagree that this film showed Will Farrel as anything more than a comedian. His interpretation of Corbit was comedic, albeit more subdued than his usual. Still the same socially awkward persona that Will uses in everything; how is that "darn fine" acting?

I enjoyed the movie overall, but I wish Will Ferrell was in it more. I was mainly looking forward to it because in the previews it looked like he was the star of the film and this was going to be his first dramatic role. I think the movie definitely shows that he has more range as an actor, but he still kind of plays the comic relief. I compare it to when Adam Sandler did "Punch Drunk Love." It was a variation on his typical comic roles, but not exactly a departure.

I loved him in this film. I wish him and Zooey had more scenes together though. I love their chemistry.

I loved Will's character in this film.I also liked his character in Stranger Than Fiction.I do like "goofy" Will however I have more of a fondness for watching him play these types of roles. I think he and Zooey played off of eachother very well.

I thought he was the best part of the movie he is so f78kin funny, like when he starts doing the karate moves out of nowhere or how he always say's "right on" and so forth the man is a genius end of story.

I have not been a big fan of Will Ferrel, but I really liked him in this role. He really stretched his acting muscles, and the scene of him singing in the bar was priceless.

I am really, really surprised to read all of these positive takes on Ferrel's performance. I am a fan of the guy (heck, I loved elf,) but I wasn't too impressed here. Going into Stranger than Fiction, I had similarly hopeful expectations but I just never did see any sort of transformation into a legitimate actor. He always seemed to fall back on his old tricks when it came to a tight spot rather than make any choices that felt human at all really. I didn't think he was awful or anything, but far from the creation of a real character. It was like watching Will Ferrell any other time, but a bit toned down and with a better soundtrack.

quite the acting chops on him!

reply

Sorry! I do like him though. What's wrong with being a comedic actor, anyway!

reply

I'm not a big Ferrell fan, but this is by far his best role.
