One thing that bugs me

There was one thing that bugged me towards the end of the film. First, Jo-won's servant sees his master is literally bleeding to death from a wound, and decides it's best to go all the way to Lady Jeong's house instead of turning back to town and seeking out medical attention for him. I feel had he done that, Jo-won wouldn't have died of blood loss and could have recovered enough to go to Lady Jeong on his own. I don't know the laws of Joseon Korea, but the ending in which Lady Jo evaded the police and got on a boat to China gives the impression the Joseon laws have no effect on a person once said person goes out of the country and doesn't return. So, I think Jo-won and Lady Jeong's escape to China would have been possible. I know I wanted a happier ending with the two to divert away from the original context of the French novel this film was based of off, but it bothers me one split second decision in not using common sense to help a bleeding person seek medical attention instead of following Jo-won's wish to see Lady Jeong ASAP could cost his life.
