Well Hilary Duff's character tells her mother that she was emailing her the whole time. Her mother wants to leave the town. The guy who likes her is beaten up and raped by 7 guys from the school and she has to help him with his recovery so she can't move house despite her mother's persistence to do so. The movie ends (surprisingly) with Hilary Duff's character contracting HIV AIDS from sharing one of her female friend's heroin needles.
