OK, so someone tell me this...

Because I honestly couldn't figure out at the end if the affair was over, or was it to be ongoing? UGH- I kept flipping between it and something on CBS, and I'm sure it wasn't that difficult, but I guess I must have missed something definative towards the end, because I can't tell from "I know where to find you."

I took it that they were going to continue their affair. She did kiss him romantically before they parted. So, I think that perhaps they were going to take it slowly, and see where it might lead. (Or, just enjoy the sex...but, I think that they cared a little bit more for each other than that).

Thank you for taking time to reply! :) That's what I wanted to think as well. I wasn't sure if I was totally off the mark though.

I think it goes on too... more importantly, on very different terms.

She's willing now to come to terms with Fran, not just the memory of her dead boyfriend.

first i thought they would just go their separate ways and that her kiss told him that although the affair was finished, she had no regrets. but realistically, a boy that age is not going to figure that out and he will be back for more of the same. i thought this script was really well written. i thought the missy character was a little over the top, but i was glad the boy didn't sleep with her after all. wish there really were boys like this when i was in college.

I believe their relationship was gonna continue. She accepted and appreciated Frances for himself--when she told him HIS art was beautiful, and she was beaming with pride for him. Also, she had moved on from her ex husband, and finally, her friend Missy said something like "let something good happen to you". He's a cutie, that Topher Grace!( and I have 6 years on Louise!)

I just watched this movie tonight for the first time and I agree... about everything you said, but esp. about Topher Grace being such a cutie! And I've got 5 years on Louise! After seeing the couch scene and all that electricity between him and Linney, all I can say is, if they ever remake "The Graduate", it would be a sin if this kid weren't offered the role of Benjamin!

That would be perfect casting!! Who would be Mrs. Robinson?

reply

Jane Seymour (did you see Wedding Crashers?)

Three certain "Wives" come to mind: Marcia Cross would be perfect as a bored country club wife, while Nicollette Sheridan would have no qualms seducing a much younger man. But for a movie I would actually pay money to see, Felicity Huffman would get my vote for a modern-day Mrs. Robinson, for her beauty and acting chops alone... after watching her as Lynette kick in Nora's door and the ensuing scene on a recent "Housewives" episode, I'm convinced this woman could play any part offered her, and do it better than 99% of the top actresses around today! She is an amazing actress!
