How many times was the name Louise said?

it doesn't matter how many times her name was said, it matters that you noticed it. weren't you wondering the whole time what the f. stood for in f. scott? names are very important in this movie, perhaps because they reveal something about a person. fran didn't reveal to the college boards his 'real'' name, he gave one he worked up on the spot, something clever. when linney calls him 'scott,' he corrects her with 'f. scott' but doesn't reveal what he is truly called until the end. 'f. scott' was a persona, and his telling her that he isn't ever called scott actually attracted her more. she began to see the differences between fran and her high school boyfriend, instead of trying to meld them into one.
now juxtappose f. scott's hidden name with laura linney's character. she is called louise, weezy, and lou over and over again, making her naked and available to anyone who wants to use her name. so you see, the name-calling has a purpose.

So I tend to watch most movies twice to notice things the second time around that I missed at first... And I happened to read your post before watching it a second time... And I found myself to be unconsciously counting as I watched it again, so I decided to go ahead and count for real. 61 times!!! And I'm sure I missed a time or two. What's funny is I didn't even notice it the first time I watched it.

Old topic, but I just watched this tonight, and the continuous use of "Louise" and "F. Scott" was a little intrusive. I enjoyed the movie otherwise, but I definitely found myself wondering whether F. Scott would manage to say a sentence without starting or ending it with "Louise".
