if good means that you expect to see body parts, then save your time.

I like the fact that it was left to the imagination and all you really saw were Grace and Linney's faces.

reply

They made a big deal out of it, but it really isn't anything special.

reply

It was real. I was actually real. It wasn't Hollywood-ized. That's what made it special.

reply

i agree. it was raw and believable, spontaneous and not hyped up by a bunch of romantic music. it was very real, and i think it was excellently done.

reply

It was beautifully done. Kudos to Dylan Kidd.

Even though I knew what was coming during the second showing I still was uncomfortable. Very intense and raw.

I'm surprised the film didn't get nominated. (yes, it was flawed, but I think the blame lies in Schulman's novel).

reply

It was played realistically, except that in real life she'd probably take off her dress.

reply

I thought it was interesting that she kept her dress on. Her character is slightly self concious about her body i.e. her mum refuses to make her pie. To be with a guy a lot younger than herself, she might have felt shy.

Not to sound like a coke head, but what do you mean by real?

It was definitely intense. Very real. Sex isn't always all passionate and dramatic with soft lighting. This was two people who wanted each other then and there, and it showed. And I think Kidd did an excellant job staging that. And of course, Linney and Grace had such great chemistry in the scene. I felt like I was walking in on something I shouldn't it seemed so real! (Especially the look he gives her afterward) Haha... hope that answers your question. :)

A little T & A would have been a nice touch here. It is a quite hard to believe her having sex with a cocky 18 year old brat that she met an hour ago just because he reminds her of an old boyfriend. But that's Hollywood for you.

reply

She didn't take her dress off because she was worried about what he would think of her 39-year-old body. I don't think it was Hollywood at all...the whole movie was beautifully and realistically done. I think you might have to be over 30 to get it though.

reply

It was the most realistic sex scene, north of porn, that I have ever witnessed. Little details, the short lived innocence of his initial touching, their facial expressions, her polite patience while he gets prepared, the just-right measure of clumsiness, the slight discomfort.

I found it to be uncomfortable, embarrassing, Just-Plain-Wrong®, beautiful, erotic, nasty, nasty, NASTY,, and sinful.

I loved it.

lol!!!

I love that comment.

I agree that her dress would have been left on to hide. Being with someone new is one thing. Being with someone new and that much younger is another story.

reply

It was real? So Linney had real sex with Grace?

reply

First of all he was a graduate student so he had to be at least 21, not 18. I thought the scene was hot. Very, Very HOT!

I wouldn't really say it was real, unless I'm proven wrong. It's more like what would really happen if it did. With anybody at any age. Ususally, you see movies where two characters are shagging, they always cut and edit, giving it almost a montage, making it perfect. And there's always some music playing in the background. While real sex, or sex in real time, it showing you basically real sex. If that makes any sense. No perfectness, no nice & sweet and certainly no GD music playing in the background (Unless they put on the radio beforehand)

Sorry if I'm mumbling about.

And you know what else was good about it? The way her cleavage was all flushed afteward, and her face. From what I've read, that is one surefire way to tell a woman has had an orgasm, the flush afterward.

I thought the sex scene was so good I could feel it myself as I watched. Really HOT! :)

reply

Topher Grace...so...hot..must contain..composure.

That was an awesome scene, woah did it just get hot in here.

reply

from what you've read? are you 12?

reply

hey dksara,loved your commment...call me!

reply

I guess you missed all the foreshadowing leading up to the sex scene, all her preparations and her conversations with husband and her best friend. This wasn't some 18 year old kid she just met. I was amazed that the scene was so realistic and done so 'tastefully' and hot.

Don't you script A Prairie Home Companion?

reply

I actually thought it was really awkward. There wasn't anything in the background, no music no nothing. And who actually has sex with their clothes on past the age of 15. The look on her face was like she was really embarrassed.

That ain't no Etch-A-Sketch. This is one doodle that can't be un-did, Homeskillet.

reply

My guess it that she dry-humped the guy to come. That would make a realistic scene like this. And it still not real sex.

Thoughts?
