Why so much negativity?
I don’t mind violence in the movies, only I have a little problem watching broken bones and members cut off, but if this serves a purpose and it’s not used simply in order to amuse a part of the public that likes this kind of stuff, I don’t mind. Since even the disgusting “DeNiro” scene did serve a purpose (all the characters in this film do have a bit of a mental problem and we are let to know this very well) I am willing to see the whole film as a dark comedy and if this means walking on the steps of “Pulp Fiction”, well, so be it. Everyone has to climb on someone else’s work to get higher and if you are giving some good cinematography and an intelligent and well worked script, you make good cinema. And that’s it!
“Matanto Cabos” is disturbingly violent but we should be more disturbed with the real violence out there, and not with those who imitate it for a reason. This is a very well made movie and the amazing thing is that it cost so little money. In the USA it would have cost 10 times more at least. This means that there are some talented guys in Mexico who know how to make cinema. The Mexicans should be content with this. Does anyone complain for Indio Fernandez’s imitation of the Soviet cinema style?
anyway this is my opinion on a funny film.
