Title Change

Why did they change the title from The Stars of Shlomi to Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi while bringing it to America? Normally I would have complaints, but I think I prefer the American title to it's original Israeli title. The Bonjour Monsieur bit was introduced in the movie while the stars were not. Whatever, I loved it.

Actually, the stars are introduced in the film, although not through dialogue. In all of Shlomi's cooking creations he includes stars: star-shaped cookies, cakes with stars on them, etc. And the dishtowel he uses has stars all over it. I guess Shlomi has a thing for star decorations...and this star obsession itself is actually a metaphor for Shlomi finally realizing what a star he actually is inside.

I was just going to ask what the significance of the stars was. They were everywhere--on all his cakes and the cloths wrapping the food he brought to Rona. Even his cookies were star-shaped.

Sorry this message is so late, but I just found the movie on Netflix by accident (I thought it was French or Indian) and decided to look it up on imdb.com. My first Israeli movie and what a gem. Loved it.

Both titles seem fine to me.

Great film, by the way.
