Amazing movie .. ! Amazing acting .. ! just 1 mistake

I really enjoyed the movie, and i was excited through the whole scenes.
I really liked the acting , specially from "Leonardo Guerra".. it was incredible

However, there was a huge mistake at the end of the movie, when " Leonardo Guerra " kissed his necklace before scoring the last foul !

Are they kidding me? !!!
how could he play with a necklace on his neck !?

finally, very nice movie.

It's only recently that jewellery has been banned.

I enjoyed the movie too but there were other blips that the writers and/or director should have got right.

A couple of examples are: -

The gaps between games are too big. You get the impression that only a few games happen over a couple of months. In reality there would be as many as 6 games in the last 4 weeks.

You can tell the actor that plays Gavin Harris is American despite a very realistic accent because he pronounces "asthma" as [azma]. Americans pronounce it this way but the English say [asma].

They're kind of little things but I think this movie was intended to appeal to the UK market and these things stand out to an English viewer.

Also giant fails in the way that football works.

How did a guy whose never played a professional match or represented his country get a work permit to play in the Premiere League?

How did the manager of NUFC sign a player from another team in the spring?

PS: This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R didn't exist.

I've just read the goofs section and apparently the Premier League has banned all jewellery except religious jewellery.

It's yet another example of religion getting special dispensation. As if a belief in a sky wizard requires favourable treatment.

The religious aspect of this film was really annoying. I hope they've stopped it in the second film.

reply

A lot of Mexicans are very Catholic and treat religion seriously. Why is it crazy that he, portraying a Mexican-born player, is religious? It was HARDLY shoved down anyone's throat.

Who the *beep* is Leonardo Guerra?

I love the movie too.

also Becker's accent sort of slips intermittently, like from American Latino to Scotch Irish...i suppose the latter was sort of acquired due to his stay in the UK environment..

reply

Who the testicles is Leonardo Guerra?...There was only one player who kissed his necklace before scoring the last goal, and that was Santiago played by Kuno Becker - Where the hell did you come up with that name?

reply

Sorry , you are right, I ment " Becker"

Actually the name I mentioned was the first name in the cast on IMDB, I was in
a hurry and didn't notice

I enjoyed the movie but very unrealistic if you follow professional soccer.

1. No way he gets a work permit.
2. He was signed on the backend of the season when the transfer window was closed.
3. Plays a couple reserve matches and all the sudden becomes an overnight star.
4. Plays for a team in what is essentially an adult league probably couldn't even be considered semi pro and just walks right into the Newcastle first team in the EPL.

Exactly. No one ever calls it soccer. Except for most English speaking people outside of GB (South Africa, India, USA, Namibia, Canada, Zambia, Pakistan, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Australia, Philippines, Botswana, Papua New Guinea, NZ, Puerto Rico, Malawi).

But in GB no one ever calls it soccer. Could you imagine if anyone did. Like pretend a major football broadcaster like Sky made a weekly show with the word 'soccer' in it. Like they called it Soccer AM. That'd be insane, and it wouldn't be watched by anyone. And there's no way it'd last for 18+ years.

reply

Who cares?

It was a movie, and a good one. It doesn't have to be realistic.
