Eva Birthistle's performance...

... in this film was remarkable. I've never seen her in anything before but I thought her acting was superb, very realistic and definitely captured the sense of confusion, pain, anguish, relief and frustration associated in a relationship with so many elements and colours involved.

Along with Toby Kebbell, definitely one to watch.

She was brilliant. Glad I finally caught this film on BBC2 earlier. I'm glad as British Pakistani living in London I don't come from a family like Qasim's. My mum's always been liberal and there's never been issues with the girls I've dated in terms of culture and religion (as I'm agnostic). Most of my girlfriends are Caucasian and inter-racial relationships are somewhat common here in the big cities of UK. However this film accurately depicted what it would probably be like for people from the more stricter families dealing with relationships and feeling duty-bound to honour family and keep with traditional culture.
I'm proud of my roots and heritage but glad I never had a family like his as I'd rather find love with someone I want and make it work. Reality in relationships whatever race, religion etc is there will be bad times as well as good and you have to work through the issues - thought that film showed that quite well.
