Best Guitar Solo Ever!

What are your thoughts on the "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" solo by Eric?
Amazing, I thought - blows the mind.

reply

It was great. Clapton is a musical genius in so many different areas (how about his playing on the Ravi Shankar composition!) and I think that he was giving everything he had to his friend George in that solo.

reply

Yeah, that's what made it so much more than "just" technically brilliant musicianship- the fact he was putting so much love into it. I find it hard not to cry during it, he's clearly doing his best for his beloved friend.....

I agree that Clapton's solo on the end of Ravis' composition was total genius. It just blew me away and sent shivers up my spine. Brought a tear to my eye as well and then when I saw Anoushka Shankar wipe a tear fronm her eye, made mine flow even more. I wish my fingers could do that.

It was totally great. I had not really discovered the wonder of Clapton yet but after that solo..WOW ! How could I not love his guitar work?

Eric Clapton is one of the greatest rock guitarist of all time.

You are aware that Clapton played the solo on the original recording (The Beatles, a.k.a., The White Album), aren't you?

reply

Of course ... I have all the Beatles albums and will get them all again in Mono & Stereo next week!!!!!

I like the album version, but have you heard the acoustic version on the Anthology where it's just George playing it? I think I may like that version best.

reply

Don't care too much for Clapton, but that solo IS one of the greatest I've ever heard. He plays from the heart, you can tell.
