Odd Omissions?

Did anybody else find it odd that no one played "What is Life?". It's one of Harrison's best songs and it really should have been played by someone.

And we really didn't need a version of "Honey Don't" by Ringo??? Ringo should have played "It Don't Come Easy" which George produced and which Ringo later admitted that George wrote a majority of the song.

Also, "I Got My Mind Set On You" Was one of his biggest hits, I think it was #1 in the UK and the US so that was an odd omission. Was it because George didn't write the song?

Also, "I Me Mine" was a great song he did for the Let it Be Album which really should have been part of this.

I've sometimes thought about songs I'd like to have seen included. I guess the artists had some say in their material but since What is Life? was a hit, it is surprising to see it not included. Here some suggestions of mine. I list song titles and likely performers:

What is Life? - Jeff Lynne

Cheer Down- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

The Answer's at the End - Billy Preston

I'd also have liked for Dark Horse to be included; it is somewhat of a signature song for George.

Hone Don't was fun but I agree it was a somewhat odd choice. In general, George's later solo work is under-utilized. That's the Way it Goes is the only song from a post-1980s solo album. How about Joe Brown singing Blow Away, too? That would have been cool.

"Cheer Down" is a great one that not too many people know about.

There's a lot of good stuff from George's solo career that tends to get overlooked. I think they tend to consistently showcase George's Beatles stuff rather than look into his solo work. Even George's compilation disks like "Let it Roll" has 3-4 backdoor Beatles songs by making them live performances. That's something you would never see from a Paul or John's greatest hits.

"What is Life" omission was odd to me because it was such a great George song.

I think Tom Petty co-wrote Cheer Down around the Wilbury period. I remember finding out on the Best of Dark Horse compilation. I think you can hear Petty's style in some of the lyrics. That's why I thought of him in relation to that song. There's a lot in George's catalogue that could have been highlighted. As you said, even some hits were left out. I like a lot of the deeper cuts personally but I can understand why they didn't make it. I wish more songs like That's the Way it Goes had been played.

Agreed about the compilations. Kind of a head-shaker. Best of Dark Horse (1976-89 time period) was George's best solo compilation and he had the most to do with it as I understand it.

Love Tom Petty. Generally and in the great film Scorsese made about George "Living in the Material World".
They should definitely have done "Run of the Mill" and "Dark Horse".
But I just love, love, love the Concert.
And I think really everyone gave their all.
