Why Cleese a no show?

John Cleese was the only [surviving] Python not there. What gives? It would have been ALL of Monty Python performing very silly sketches, yet something was missing.

Wasn't it because he was upset with the other Pythons? If that's the case, don't you think he should've put aside his anger to honor a friend who has passed away? I agree it would have been nice if he were there, but he wasn't.

Hello. My name is Harry Osborn. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

reply

As far as I know he was on the Harry Potter set and that's why he couldn't be there.

I don't think there's much of a triste between the Pythons. I was surprised that even Neil Innes (at the piano) and Carol Cleveland (the best girl) were on hand.
In the new Spamlot musical by Eric Idle based on Holy Grail a song has the lyrics "long, winding road", definetly a Beatles reference.

You seem to know this, so I'll ask you..

Where was Neil? I'm a fan of him and I have.. misplaced my Concert for George-tape (Stupid, I know..) When was he at the piano? Was it under the Lumberjack song, or was he a lumberjack? Was he in screen?

Thank you!

Neil Innes was at the piano for "The Lumberjack Song." He passes right in front of the camera as they all leave the stage (he is the last one). He is also one of the singers of "Sit On My Face" along with Pythons Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam.

reply

He's one of the singers? Oh god, I've seen his behind..

Cleese lives in America now, and I've always had the impression that he is the one least inclined to participate in Pythonesque projects these days. I don't believe he's feuding with any of them or anything.
