IMO "reasonably intelligent" is an understatement. Just because what they were doing was illegal does not in any way diminish their intelligence in comparison to other individuals that run/manage/organize "Legal" multi-million dollar corporations/IE-CEO's.

Comparing peoples intellelligence is very subjective. That being sad, If anything, the illegal factor is evidence that the drug traffickers are intellectually superior than the afore mentioned "CEO's". And I'd guess that the "Business" side of the illegal trafficking operations was a much more honorable/honest/up and up a Business model than a large % of Legal Corporations Business practices/models. And while by nature its devoid morally(IE-the damage the product does once it gets to the users and small-time dealers, etc), many Corporations are just as, if not more morally bankrupt than the business of Drug Trafficking?

These guys are just more of risk-takers and adrenaline junkines than the CEO's,etc.

And in many ways I can see their justification in that its a matter of "Supply and Demand" and if they're not suppling it...someone else will....so ight as well be me making the $$"...However it could be argued that at the time covered in this documentary...the traffickers themselves created the "Demand" for Cocaine. Since they made it more available/accessable

Just my $0.02

"I don't think they were foolish enough to hide all their money at one place. Roberts and Munday probably have a couple millions hidden somewhere, but I'm sure they lost most of their money."

I say:
They may have lost "most" of their money... but they are smart guys who set themselves up with a good retirement plan... millions of cushy bucks to kick back on.

I think the majority of people on this board who can't move up in life through what would be considered "normal" means ie. college, get 100K$+ job and live a good life would probably do the same as these guys did. I prob wouldntve of done it as long as they did, after the first few million I wouldve prob retired.

Like everybody else in the cartel they had most of their money in Noriega's banks in Panama which got stolen either by Noriega or George Bush Sr

Hammerbutt,

You are totally right on this one! That is exactly what happened with the money, Panama got it all!!

reply

Yeah I bet that you would earn just a few millions and then stop, knowing there are hundreds of millions more to be made. Its easy to say here that you would stop, but I bet its very hard.

I think the CIA might have got there part in the drug money.

God has a hard on for marines because we kill everything we see. He plays his game, we play ours.

Roberts seemed to be living a pretty luxurious life up until his death.
