Any South Koreans like Alfred Hitchcock?


I would love to see something by a South Korean with a taste for Notorious, Spellbound, and Vertigo.. Why so many brilliantly made horror films?(June of Joejune) Anyone know of any such South Korean directors?

IMHO South Korean filmmakers produce excellent romantic melodramas OR brutal revenge thrillers

On a personal level I think Hitchcock was very overrated and his films relied a lot on good choice in plots - we forget that Hitchcock didnt write the scripts! When the core plot is solid its hard to mess it up

Maybe "Pieta" by Kim Ki-duk is close enough
