TV Movie to Gore?

I don't get how the whole entire movie seemed like it was made for television, and then the last five minutes of the movie was bloody and gory. It wasn't completely gory or scary granted, but I was thinking "really?" Oh now you want to be scary and edgy in the last five minutes? It was boring and the story wasn't completely thought out in my opinion.
