what was up with the teacher, and the crazy neck move

I kept wondering about it... I thought maybe she was a witch who had been hung at some point past... or maybe she was some sort of crow/raven familiar taken human form... maybe just an old homunculus stiffening up with age... but NO! it was just one of many bits of weirdness tacked on for no particular reason.
Another was the guy in the hospital who reaches out at Heather and says 'Help me!'... who was that guy? The hospital isn't under school/witch control since we've seen that they don't have control of the local police either. So he's just some random guy saying 'Help me!' to confuse the viewer and put them off the scent of what's... at its core... a very simple story.
