I liked this movie.

I saw it a while back, not knowing anything about it or that it was a true story. It was mesmerizing and frustrating, at the same time, watching the boy recede into the recesses of his mind, after a lifetime of being raised dysfunctionally. It was also perplexing why no one ever tries to give him focus to his life, urge him to DO something, besides sit around being rich.

Julianne Moore was very convincing as the mother. Mother. The word is all encompassing. The son is raised to be dependent on Mother.

The boy was a good actor. He went on to be in numerous successful pictures, and who knew he could sing, too? Very talented young man.

A disturbing story. Very good movie...well written, well acted.
