Tony Baekeland is butt ugly!

Not everyone is drop-dead gorgeous, and that's just fine. There's lots of average-looking people out there. But there was something about Tony Baekeland, played by Eddie Redmayne, in this movie that was much worse. He was sinfully ugly in a way that's hard to describe. Like just butt-ass, God-ass awful. It required a suspension of disbelief to imagine that anyone would want to sleep with him when he was both SO ugly and SO whiny.

And it's mystifying, because the other photos of Eddie Redmayne on IMDB look just fine. He's not exactly a hunk, but he presents himself quite well. And yet in this movie he's stupefyingly hideous. What gives?

He wasn't ugly..that's a very strong and wrong word to use.....he has 'chiseled' features and I have seen many male models with similar features to him

reply

I find him Hypnotizingly Handsome!

reply

Well I saw him today in "My Week with Marylin" and he looks like he has matured.

Haven't seen this film, but in his new film he is a very good looking young man.

reply

They made him up to look just like Julianne Moore.

But, anyone else get a chuckle out of the name "Redmayne" for a redheaded guy?

"Enough of that technical talk, Foo!"

That's a pretty rude, superficial way to describe someone, even if it were true (which it's not). He is semi-famous, now. He plays the young lead in Les Mis and has a lovely singing voice. He has pretty eyes and long eyelashes, good bone structure, a straight nose, good hair. He has a sort of odd look, when all his features are taken together, but no where near what anyone would call "ugly."

He hasn't made a career as a handsome leading man, though, so it's odd that you would focus on his appearance. That's not what the movie is remotely about.

Speak for yourself. Physically speaking, Eddie has this very ethereal look to him which makes him look otherwordly and different and if you ask me, he is quite handsome in a very boyish, innocent way.
Except that we all know he-Anthony- was bat-crazy and I would have flown as far away and as rapidly as possible, I did not find him whinny, just not all there.
