I LIKED the movie, but at the same time felt something was missing. So I can see where you are coming from.

It felt like something was missing because the characterization was somewhat off from the TV series. And there was more focus on frenetic action and less on character development.

River's last fight was boring. AND SPOILER!!! one of the main characters die in the ship and it's hilarious

I spent most of my time watching this film wondering about this too. Guess that's what you and I get for trusting IMDB ratings of obscure cult films.

Did you watch the serie before ? If not, this would explain that. Movie was meant as a closure to the cancelled show.

No. Because most people who did watch it, did like it. Hence the high rating.

The same applies to every movie with a higher than average rating.
