Great movie

As an armenian, I found this movie to be great. It was a simple romance comedy movie about a couple living in poverty in Armenia. Highly recommend it to any Armenian. I want to get the DVD, however, I do not think the DVD is available in the US. Seems like it is only available in England. If any one knows where I can get the dvd, please let me know

Hi,

I thought it was a great film too. We can get the DVD in the UK (Region 2) so I guess it's out in the US by now.

Can you help me clarify a couple of points in the film:

What was the significance of the horse which ran through the scene on quite a few occasions when the two main characters were together?

Also, do Armenians always sit outside when it's freezing or did it signify something different in the film?

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I think the people sitting outside in freezing temperatures must be symbolic. I lived in Armenia for 2 years and I know a lot about the culture. It's very unusual for Armenians to be sitting outside when it's freezing unless they're waiting for a bus. They are positive that cold air = illness and wouldn't sit outside in cold weather without a very good reason.

If this movie is about Kurdish (known as Yezidi in Armenia) citizens of Armenia, there might be a good explanation for the people sitting outside in the cold weather. I have been to a few Kurdish villages in Armenia, but I really don't know much about the culture. However, it's likely they feel the same way as the ethnic Armenians about the cold air.

Highly recommend it to any Armenian.
Highly recommended to everyone, really: 9 out of 10.

BTW the woman who plays Nina (Lala Sarkissian) is simply wonderful, and she is not even an actress! Or maybe that's why...

It is really easy to get confused with films in that region. The Kurdish cinema is rising in Kurdistan (Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey and the small part of Armania where the film was made) the director of the film Hiner Saleem is Kurdish. People usually confuse these places because Kurdistan is not an official country. But we need to recognise the kurdish film ndustry and praise it acordingly.
