why wasn't this nominated for best featured documentary?

just finished watching this and holy sh!t, what an amazing story of survival. i finished it thinking it was one hell of a documentary, only to learn it wasn't even nominated?? complete bullsh!t, this would have to be up there as one of my biggest oscar snubs now
