Thank God for Tolkien

I am serious when I say I thank God for J.R.R. Tolkien. Without his brilliant stories, I fear the world would be fully converted to unconscionable modernism and post-modernism, without remembering or caring about the wisdom and pure joy that can be found in the deepest corner of our hearts. Some may not even understand why they feel the way they do when reading about hobbits and elves, but it hardly makes a difference. Lord of the Rings, if anything, is an antidote to the harsh realism and modernism of our society that threatens to make us forget what it was like to be a kid.
