my thoughts

I read through some of the messages here, and after all that, I must say my original opinion still holds: I really love this documentary. I have seen many documentaries, and this one is easily my favorite. Ringers captures the essence of Lord of the Rings fans, showing their devotion to the movies and books, capturing their fun personalities through a thorough history of Lord of the Rings pop culture. There was information in this documentary that I had not known before, and all of it I found interesting. They presented it in a lively, creative way that captured my attention the entire time. It was created by a group of fans themselves, as I have had the pleasure of finding out in live interviews with them. They are intelligent, creative and very fun to be around, and I believe they brought all of this into their film. As for the interviews they have, I think they have a well rounded assortment of scholars, celebrities and average fans, and they tie together their subject matter in a pleasantly cohesive manner. They ask questions both enjoyable and probing, and they do not limit their selection of interviews to those people who are anally perfect in their knowledge of details. Pardon the expression, but they treat ALL Lord of the Rings fans as equals and worthy of an aired interview. All said and done, this film has earned a spot next to my copies of Lord of the Rings, among my favorite films.
