ACE Books?

Where can i find them? They are the so called "pirated" books.

reply

No, I believe they are called the LOTR titles...you just have to look on the back cover and see if they were published by ACE

Hullo,

Try attending a local or regional SF convention. A book dealer may have them.

The ACE Edition, which I did get at an SF con, is NOT pirated!

Houton-Mifflin imported too many sheets of TLOTR from the UK publisher. This vioated copyright law and the edition went into public domain.

To quote the HM representative in charge of the Tolkien back in 68: "We goofed."

You may be able to find a set at a science fiction convention. I got a set at one.

According to Donald Wolheim & ACE books the original books went out of copyright in NA.

From what I could learn, the court case was finally settled in favor of Houghton Mifflin in 1992!

When I spoke with HM in '68, the person in charge of Tolkien books said, "We blew it."
