Only film that exists of 1972 is a security survailance camera, as Bobby complained the camera's were putting him off, and insisted they played in a back room. There is a BBC documentry called "Clash of the Titans" which is brilliant and even better than this movie. It tells the story of how important this cold war match was to each country and has lots of footage from 1972.
The documentry starts off " 70's the height of the cold war, but in 1972 an extraordinary event took place,in which 2 men went to war across a chessboard"
Its an hour long and part of a series which tells of big sporting clashes.
Absolutely brilliant. It plays all beach boy music when showing bobby training for the clash and all dreary russian music when showing spassky. My cousin loved it and he hates chess. I get goose bumps just thinking about the documentry because it really was east against west and in the coridoors of power, both countries knew they had to win. It was a microcosm of a real war across a chessboard.
