Took a While but Came around.

I am a black girl who listens to punk rock.
I don't look or dress like a punk rocker but it's a big part of my life.
I also came of age in the ultraracist bible belt

This movie made me upset in the first 20 minutes.
you're the only black kid at a show, fine.
you dress differently, fine.
you feel the need to be more hardcore than anyone else, whatever.
It all seemed like it was coming from a weird place.

A lot of these kids come from the same background. Suburban and desperately needing to be accepted. I did relate to the guys who just found this music and liked it. They weren't searching for any approval. Once they start to really get into their real personal experiences and how it made them see themselves, I started to like it a lot. I'm glad I stayed and watched.
