this movie blew

Anyone agree?

I didn't find it nearly as dark as it was trying to be, just your average *beep* teen drama with a couple really messed up and pointless scenes.

I also didn't find it to be a very accurate view into teenage suicide in the least. I don't think that is what they were going for, but I've noticed other people saying that.

Although I did enjoy the cast of b-e list young actors!

This is not a post for drama, I'd just like to discuss what people did and did not like about the movie.

well the movie was alright... i agree that parents should have to watch this movie but the audio was awlful.. the mouths didnt match the words at times and it was annoying... i did not like the columbine refence when the one dude asks the girl if she believes in god.. that was just too real and too mean to the people that this *beep* happened to.. i didnt think that should have made it to the movie

reply

I'm sorry. I like disturbing movies. I normally like teen-angst movies as well.

But this movie was a pointless, poorly written, completely unbelievable pile of horse *beep* The ending sequences made absolutely NO sense at all. Why would they sleep together with Patrick before "all turning themselves in"? Why would Patrick sleep with them? The whole thing was so *beep* dumb. And after 45 minutes of listening to these kids I couldnt take it anymore. Oh yeah, and the music sucked too. I am literally going to say it's the worst movie I watched all year. And dont go trying to say its because I am easily disturbed...cuz I'm not. It just sucked.

I was drinkin a lot when I watched this movie. For me and my friends it wasn't bad for a late night drinkin movie. It kept us interested in the story, wonderin what would happen next. It wasn't nearly the best movie in the world. But it was what it was....entertaining.....

reply

I'll have to disagree with you, I thought the movie was genius, few serious movies grab me, this one did. It made me really think...

reply

I've never met a dark movie that I didn't like, but this one... It seemed it was trying too hard and then just went overboard. The complete megalomania and other disterbing scenes lacked a sense of real and just left a sick taste in my mouth. If it wasn't for the shock effect scenes I'd have forgotten when this movie was about. Really really bad script, weird audio sync, and a couple of horrible actors. Ick.

I think I'm gonna stand out, but this movie was actually pretty good. Sure, a little unusual and a little creepy, but nonetheless good.

reply

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to completely disagree.

This was probably one of the best movies I have ever seen. It was amazingly real and attention grabbing. The speeches made to the camera give you a deeper look into the characters personalities and their individual reasoning behind committing suicide.

I only found one scene that I thought they may have gone too far(child rape). Although it showed it for what it is and nothing less.

Also, the actors were amazing. Particularly Kris Lemche. He had a difficult part to play but he pulled it off perfectly.

Over all an amazing movie that I think everyone should watch.

I loved this movie. And I think it's safe to say that when you people say you didn't like it (you people, as in generallly everyone who said they didn't like the movie) because it was "too dark" and/or "too real", the people behind this movie and the movie itself made it's point. people don't want to deal with this stuff because of the reasons you don't like it. But you all need to wake up. Realize what's going on. it doens't seem real to you for various reasons. maybe you just like turning a blind eye to reality, not WANTING to face the truth. maybe you just don't know any suicidal people. In my opinion, most of what the characters in movie said was the truth. it didn't go overboard. It was intense and had so many unexpected events one right after the other because that's how it really is. And if you don't think so, I don't think you've experienced the how the world really is, how people really can be.
THIS IS JUST MY OPINION, ITS NOT RIGHT NOR IS IT WRONG.

Who said they thought it was too dark or too real? No one. I think it was quite the opposite.

reply

It always amazes me how people with so little knowledge and experience of life and the world... the wider world beyond the self-inflicted horror of inner-city USA, expect others to 'wake up' and 'realise' what's going on, or dare to suggest that they know 'how the world really is' or 'how people really can be.' I've seen this argument used so many times to excuse forays into bad taste and other questionable and voyeuristic exercises, that it has become something of a stale and clichéd arrogance that should never go unchallenged.
That aside, I would have to say that any point to this film eludes me. In fact I believe it has no point and serves no purpose at all, other than to further an obsession that American popular culture seems to have with violence and degredation. The poor script, mis-directed histrionics, and the obvious technical limitations of this production only serve underline the lack of any real power or significance in the subject matter. It is a clumsy and immature piece of work devoid of irony, devoid of hope... the hope which motivates the greater part of humanity to maintain their dignity and will to survive, however harsh their existence may be. It would be a grave conceit to think that the characters in this film have any problems at all by comparison to those faced daily by people who live in real fear from hunger or oppression, yet who can still find the beauty and meaning in life.

reply

Not everyone who has a difficult life can still find beauty in their life or meaning in their suffering. There are people who have no hope at all. And some movies depict that. Not every movie should have a happy ending.

I am sorry but i dont agree. yes i would agree that most of the people that were commenting the video were teenagers and i am as well, but that is beside the point of the message of the film. If all you were looking for was some entertainment on a friday night than this is NOT a movie that you should watch, even though that is originaly why i rented the movie, but if you want a wake up call to what a "real" high school is like than yea watch it. i my self dont go to a "real" high school i am in a "good" town with out much of this going on...but litteraly a few miles away there is a city that has a highschool where they are forcd to walk through metle detectors before entering the campus...but going back to my original point is that this movie had a message that is true in more than a few ways. i will admit that this movie has its exaderations but they still are very real and are realy happening in todays world. I have started to read a book called "Angry Teens and the Parents Who Love Them" that states almost the same issuse that this movie is saying, and these were not writeen in any relation except the theme, now this book opens with a big start and if you read it you should be redy fo a hit in the chest in the first page...and for the people that just liked the movie for the gut renching themes you are missing so much and if you still like the idea than go watch "The Hills Have Eyes" now i am not trying to promote different products i am just stating the relation to them...this movie has real life themes and should be watched by as many as possible...(Spoiler)...the very ending with Scott talking into the camera in his last breathes is a heart hitting and when the screen goes to static and you see his mom it hits and hard and this and "Pay it forword" are real heart acheing ends...i know this is long and i thank the ones that actually read the whole thing...and one final note i am a seventeen year old high school student that is facing many of the same issuses...

This movie is far too poorly made to be disturbing. I can forgive the low budget and stilted acting, but the story is unconvincing to begin with. "You're killing yourself? Wow, cool dude, count me in" etc etc

We all know most teenagers are pretty dumb, but not THIS dumb.

reply

No offense Hpoeful but perhaps you should look into attending a "real" high school! Bad grammar, bad spelling, no punctuation; do they even teach english at your school? I wonder how many young people's problems would be helped by a decent education, one that includes real world lessons and basic life skills.
I'm 30 years past high school age and I enjoyed this movie. If nothing else it affords an opportunity for people to start talking about these issues and may force some older folks to re-examine what it means to be a teenager in America today.

This movie was enjoyable, but could have been much better;

- Brian needed a bigger role. I don't remember a single scene from his camera, which is a pity because Cody McMains is a decent actor.

- The "Do you believe in God?" was such a goddamn cliche. It may or may not have come from the Columbine shooting, but now it is getting real annoying. It also got mentioned in 'Liberty Stands Still', for example.

- Characters who weren't the least bit concerned by their friend's suicidal intention. Furthermore, characters who decide to kill themselves just because Scott was doing it. I mean, some had genuine reasons, like Patrick and Trudy, but the rest of them seemed fairly content, and never really explained what was so bad about their lives anyway.

- That annoying notion in teen dramas that dictates that people can be killed instantly with a shot to the chest. Furthermore, the only character he shot twice was Scott, and Scott didn't die instantly! Goddamit that annoyed me.

- Scott's "No limits" speech, correct as it was, yet the only thing Scott did was backchat a teacher. Whoa, how incredibly limitless.

No offense thebrain58, but it doesn't surprise me that you're 30 years past high school age. MOST high school students display worse writing skills than Hpoeful, especially when they are posting something on the internet and they know it won't be graded.
