this movie was weak!

This movie was amazing.. The way it was told by the girl was excellent. It could be someones life. There are a lot of people who get raped, but don't know how to tell someone. And a lot of them react to it in a different way.

Most victims of rape don't run around announcing it to everyone they know. There's generally a great sense of guilt on the part of the person who was raped- they feel responsible for allowing it to happen, feel that subconsciously they might have WANTED it to happen. Added on top of this, she's already unpopular because she called the cops on the party, and the person who raped her is incredibly popular. Chances of anyone believing her are low- which plays out when she tries to tell a friend of hers.

As for her appearance...are you under the impression that only hot chicks get raped? Ignoring the fact that most everyone at the party had been drinking heavily, rape is not about the appearance of the victim.

In summation...the movie was a very well done adaptation of a book that told a very realistic story, and anyone who would actually be surprised to learn that a rape victim doesn't tattoo "I WAS SEXUALLY ASSAULTED" across her forehead is rather ignorant.

What the **** is wrong with you???? You should be ashamed of yourself for saying such a thing. Obviously, you are either extremely ignorant or you have a heart made of steel and you are as worthless a human being as Andy himself. First of all, you have no idea the kind of physical, emotional, and psychological pain and suffering a rape victim goes through. Melinda was physically violated and emotionally traumatized for the rest of her life. Andy took something that was not his to take and forced her to go through the most excruciatingly painful internal experience she will ever have to go through. Victims carry the experience with them to their grave and its not something that they can just waltz up to someone and say, "hey, guess what? I was raped". You are so ****ing ignorant. She was terrified, traumatized; her friends turned on her and wouldn't believe her, her parents wouldn't listen and didn't care to listen, who could she have told? Also, aside from Kristen Stewart being really pretty (in my opinon), rape has nothing to do with sex itself. They have proven this and if you weren't so ignorant you would know that rapists rape to exert their dominance over their victim- it is about power and control. It has nothing to do with sex itself and therefore even if she was "ugly as sh*t" (shame on you for saying that also) Andy would not care, all he cared about was he saw a sweet, innocent young girl who seemed vulnerable and so he manipulated her, made her feel special; and then violated her, stole away that innocence and forced her into the depths of vulnerability. He was a sick, sick human being, and that is putting it mildly. Do you really think that men would rape for the sake of having sex? NO. Any man can find some dumbo girl out there who will have sex with him. Andy was good-looking and said himself, "I could have any girl in this school I wanted, willingly". He did it because he wanted to feel powerful and somehow got a sick satisfaction out of putting Melinda through that kind of pain.

She is beautiful and this film is in no way weak

From what I know I think her not telling anyone is normal for some assault victims. Everyone reacts differently, and others in the thread said as much and keeping this quiet is for reasons that I'm sure are difficult to understand for someone who hasn't been a victim of such an assault. I think for such a young kid as portrayed in the movie her reaction was to go into a shell, withdraw.

Do you need a bowman!?

First of all OP, you retarded *beep* twat, rape has NOTHING to do with how "hot" a girl is. That and when you grow up, hopefully you'll learn that looks are completely subjective anyway and completely a matter of taste. Sadly, I doubt you will. Nonetheless, I urge you to get a *beep* education, or shut the *beep* up and take a seat!

I'm always dragging that horse around...

Thank you for saying Kristen is beautiful. Because she is. She's perfect, talented. Her best is Twilight Saga.

You better take that back about my true love Kristen right now or I swear to God.
