In the fifth and last episode, a traitor is revealed and he's Rombert, an intelligence officer who apparently wants to become a JAM. And his treason plays a major role in the human plan to evacuate the planet. Does he make any kind of appearance before that? Because it feels like the audience is supposed to know who he is.

But there was one episode where yukikaze is on RTB alone, and you can see rei sitting in a chair at base. Yukikaze is targetting the planes on the ground and destroys them. Thats the first mention that the jam might be in the base.
strangely, this anime does seem to need more episodes... more dogfights and more back ground to the story.
sometimes i felt that i missed something they may have said or not said earlier.
like rei was promoted and told to never fly again. and then he still does... why? is there any explanation made by the series? i can think that the robot planes still dont work 100% and he has to supervise it or something.
A bit late, I know, but Rombert was there at the debriefing in Operation 1, after Fukai had shot down the JAM Super Sylph, asking, "Didn't you consider that this might be a friendly unit, Lt. Fukai?"
