boring movie (spoilers)

I had high hopes going into this movie but it turned out to be a bit too boring for me.

The first couple of scener were good and had nice actin sequences but then the love story began and nothing kinda happened for the next 50 minutes. When things finally started to happen and the Showdown finally was to come between R and cypher...it kinda became a "bleh". Really didn't like the fact that the showdown kinda wasn't a showdown and instead ended with the bombing from nowhere. And why did R commit suicide anyway? Coulda lived.

--spoiler--
R's love Ria died, R's best friend Noma died, and his life was kind of miserable anyway in the first place (selling stolen roboter ai chips on the blackmarket to survive, no friends, no family, etc) ...seems like there wasn't anything real for him to go on with life. Guess that was enough for him to commit suicide. I can understand the character's point of view.

Btw, the bombing didn't come from nowhere. The good guys activated self destruction of the building to stop the cyborg invasion.

Personally, I loved the film, also the ending. I thought it was a nice powerful ending, emotional and also nice action.

Nice movie with a lot of elements from different genres: action, drama, romance, sci-fi etc. Well mixed. Personally I wished the movie would have been longer ;)

Only thing that really bothered me about the movie were some stupid characters like that girl in the commando base...I think Amy was her name...can't remember. Too clichee and acting/talking most stupid.

Pay attention to those boring parts and you may figure it out.

Boring parts? This movie is fast paced like hell! What boring parts???

A few parts were fast but otherwise slow. Didn't matter the plot was so muddled that it wasn't worth watching even if it wasn't boring. What a POS!

Notice at the end the flower that R chose for Ria blooms, an Adonis, its meaning "beautiful memory".

Ria removes her chip while her beautiful memories of R remain. She didn't want to continue to malfunction until she didn't have those memories that made her happy anymore. So those thoughts of R accompany her to her death, the way she wanted to go.
R decides to go out the same way. He doesn't want to see Ria after she has malfunctioned to the point where she must be scrapped, or "dies". So for him to die when he did, in his mind, the "woman" he loves is still alive...the way he would have wanted to remember her.

That's why Cyon tells Ria she was lucky because she had someone to stay with her and someone to leave with her.

Agree 100%. I heard this was great, action, adventure, sci-fi, etc. But I was nodding off in the middle of it. I was trying to force myself to stay awake for awhile. The movie was well made, but there was just way too many slow "drama" parts that made me lose interested.

It was the same for me. For example the cyborg Ria, I didn't feel anything personal about her. She had no personality, how was I supposed to grieve that she was dying? And the movie didn't show any reason why R would love Ria, except that she was pretty. And so I couldn't understand R's overly dramatic grief over Rias death. It just didn't feel real. And so I found it boring.

And the end, where R is fighting the cyborg. There is the cliche that he gets hit so many times, and still rises up and continues fighting. Rather like Boromir in The Lord of the Rings. But in this movie it was cheesy. It was like fishing for tears and sympathy from the audience, when I had felt no sympathy for R in the beginning and he had little redeeming qualities. I just could't care that he was being beaten up, I just kept thinking could they speed it up and get moving.

I don't remember that the music was particularly bad, but I guess it was quite pompous.
