Why'd Phillip's parents tell him not to drink?

Ok, so I've never been to Germany, but I've taken German for four years. I've heard that the legal drinking age over there is 16 and the driving age is 18. I assume that Phillip and his friends are at least 18 because they are all in the same class together and because Wurst drives a car. So if Phillip is 18 then why do his parents tell him not to drink at the beginning? He's legally old enough. It's not because they don't drink because they have alcohol in the house...

Dont know the movie but it is not a age thing. It is more like take care, dont mess up.....dont drink....everything will be fine as long as you stay sober ;-)
So I guess it is a general saying to not overdo it.

Just imho!

PEACE, over and out.

He´s their son, and the don´t want to have there son in hospital or something,
so they tell him not to drink (too much).

I guess it's similar to parents telling their 22 year old kids in the US not to drink and have parties while they're out of town.

I think the dad was mostly concerned about Philip drinking HIS booze, since he took a picture of his liquor cabinet before they left as to have proof of how much booze was there.
