When he went to pick up the $100 cheque from his parents because otherwise he wouldn't eat, and then forked out $75 on a psychic in the next scene, I cried for the future of humanity.

He says in another scene that he was keeping his personal expenses separate from the film's expenses. So the $75 for the psychic was out of the film budget. I say he was wise to keep them separate.

Still, a penny going to a performance artist - excuse me, "psychic" - is wasted money.

Still doesn't "exemplifies all that's wrong with the world", unless the psychic began to tell the everything on the news for the next years to come.
