Worst movie ever?

First of all, I don't care if the movie is "fake" or if they lied about the cost of the film. All I care about is quality of the movie.

Now, I've seen some pretty bad films before. Pearl Harbor and Blue Crush come to mind as well as the classic film Plan 9 From Outer Space. But this one absolutely takes the cake. At least the previously mentioned films had some unintentional comedy value. My Date With Drew is the cinematic equivalent to decapitating your arm with a chainsaw. I don't think I have ever been so disgusted with a movie. This guy is a narcissistic and obnoxious moron who doesn't realize he's making a complete fool of himself, and the only thing I wanted to do was punch him for making me waste my 8 dollars, which I tried to get a refund for. What was the point of this movie? Did he think that studying how to cut meat in front of a camera was going to be funny or entertaining? What I find more odd is the apparent legion of defenders on this website. This movie is a disgrace. Watch "Grizzly Man" if you want to see a great doc.

I did register back in 05, but that was so I could read the message board. I never really intended to post anything, but this movie is so bad I felt I had to say something. How am I an "idiot fanboy"? A fanboy of whom? And calling someone "jealous" when they don't like something is the ultimate silly comment. It is to my understanding that this movie did poorly, and the guy in the flick is certainly not someone I aspire to be like. So what am I "jealous" of?

You really take seriously the "reviews" of people who can't even spell waste?

reply

Montaulk Girl's post's are months old and actually the word in question would have been "Wasted". If anyone here was not taken seriously, it's her, Montaulk Girl.

Movie was pretty bad, not sure it was the worst movie ever tho. Then again i can't think of any that were worse at this time.

Settle down chief. I just stated my unbiased opinion which is more than you can say, no need to scour the interwebs to find the only 40 people who liked this pile of bollocks, reeks of desperation.

The guy should be happy I saw it at all because i have asked others what their thoughts on it were and I get "huhs" and "never heard of it".

Anyways, I'm happy you and a few other people could find entertainment in this load of manure, in fact i envy you.

Ignorance is bliss as they say.

I will take the word of a reputable journal like Variety over the ex execs of a failed DVD company any day of the week.
So there is plenty of evidence that My Date With Drew made mininal money, and none that it grossed in the Millions?
God, is Bigger Boat stupid enough to think he can get away with lies like that?
It is not so much that he lies, but that he lies stupidly that gets to me.

As someone who loves argument and hates a lot of movies, I salute you, MontaukGirl. You stuck with it, even though your adversary chose to blatantly ignore most of your points, and I score you the winner overwhelmingly.

Boat... I don't flame people anymore, but your arguing is terrible.

That said, I haven't seen this film. I wish the filmmakers luck and success, but their movie isn't something that interests me. Catchy premise, though.

I'm not commenting on the film, nor am I telling you you're wrong.

I am interested in how the film made money, however you never bothered to explain much beyond $5m and some details about foreign sales. That's cool. What was the actual budget of the film? Including marketing? What sort of profit return did it receive? Why do some industry folks say it was a failure?

You might not have the answers to these questions, and that's fine.

I caught this movie Saturday morning, after never having heard of it before. I was quite interested and I'd have to say I really enjoyed it.

Nothing about it seems fake or staged. I don't know why anyone would say that. I don't know if it was or wasn't fake but even if it was fake it definitely didn't seem that way.

I haven't seen a ton of docs because quite frankly they're boring (I've probably seen about 5 or 6) but this one was interesting for sure.

I just recently saw this movie for the time too. I really enjoyed it! It was light-hearted and fun. And Drew seems like such a nice person.

first of all i didnt even treat this as a movie, but i think it's the point that matters, some ordinary guy sets out to get a date with a hollywood superstar, and manages at the end. there is nothing "bad" about it, if you're juding it with the eyes of how a movie should be made, you're just being silly (i'd normally say "then you're an idiot" but it seems to be offensive, so i've stopped saying that on forums). this is a documentary made by a bunch of people who are doing it for the first time, and frankly don't really care how well as long as it gets the message across, all they wanted to do is to record the journey, and what they've been through.

the very fact that you said "what was the point of this movie" makes me feel sad for you, the point is simple, if you have a dream, doesn't matter how impossible it might seem, you should atleast try to achieve it.

im not a fan of drew barrymore, and i watched this movie on cable, but i think it was very inspiring, and im sure im not the only one who feels this way.

wow...can't believe someone still replies to this thread. then i realised you had an epic arguement with some other guy over whether or not this film was successful...i live in south-east asia and i saw this film on cable on a sunday night, not sure if this would somehow suggest whether or not it was successful, but im throwing it out there.

oh and you just compared a light hearted documentary to a psycho killer film inspired by true story, completely failed to see your point, and frankly don't really care.

good luck with life, hope you will beat more people on the internet over trivial arguements to boost your self esteem, try as hard as you can to change my mind, and maybe then prove that i'm somehow less intelligent. when i next come back to read it (which would be the next time i'm bored enough to see whether people have replied to my messages on a website about movies), maybe i will then agree with you and cry like a helpless baby.

You really don't understand the concept, do you?

While that's one of the better quotes I've seen from any movie review, and as much as I'd like to watch you do that, technically speaking, decapitation involved the head.
