Just wish the trailer editor had done the movie. What's with the wife throwing the duffle bag in the river? Anybody know?

Yeah the trailer was very good and could lead a person to think the film might be good, though upon watching it you will find yourself disabused of this notion.
I know it was Oct 3 2005 you asked the question, but it was because she found the clothing contained in the bag to be soiled and therefore she suspected her husband of being involved with the crime, so she was disposing of evidence.
