Machuca influenced by?

Great viewing experience. This film is successful in many aspects. It's technically very good, its narrative is from a perspective and it brought about a few emotions throughout, although the length could have been tightened a bit overall.

One thing I was reminded of a few times during the viewing was its possible influences. Several scenes made me think of The 400 Blows and Dead Poets Society? Did anyone else feel the same?
