Beatrix didn't take the money?

I can't believe after all the times I've watched this movie, I just now noticed something.

After Beatrix rips out Elle's last remaining eye, retrieves her sword, and walks out the front door of Bud's camper, she completely walked passed the bag of money. I mean, to be fair, unless there's some part of the story I haven't figured out; Beatrix knew nothing about Bud getting paid a large sum of money to kill her...right? Or did she leave the money behind intentionally? If Beatrix would've taken all that money, it could've greatly benefited her and her daughter's future.

Thoughts??

1. I don't think she cared about money, she only cared about revenge.
2. She didn't know her daughter was alive.

reply

Oh okay, that makes sense. But still, she missed out on a lot of cash. lol

There's an interview somewhere where Tarantino talks about writing about how Beatrix, after grabbing the Pussy Wagon, heads off into the desert where she's buried a stash of cash and weapons under a rock. He didn't include the scene in the film, but I would assume that the Bride has a few stockpiles of resources and wouldn't really need it. She could also get money at any moment (being a world-class assassin and all) and so that's not really something that's thin on the ground.

reply

Well, if it's not in the movie, than it really doesn't explain much to the viewer. lol

reply

Yes, that's true. If the filmmakers want the audience to respond to their story, they need to put it in the movie (not the novelisation or the screenplay).

I think I bought the Bride just kinda having money because I assumed that she either had a stash somewhere or because she could steal it or acquire it by some means which, while perhaps not entirely mundane, would be less interesting than the scenes presented in the films.

We also do definitely see the Bride liberate the Pussy Wagon. We see her wits and her resourcefulness many times throughout the films, so her acquisition of funds isn't of paramount interest.

To drop back to the original question: by the time she got to the trailer, she probably didn't need the cash and it wasn't worth hanging around and risking a snakebite for.

reply

Not sure she knew about the $$. Just a red suitcase to her. But I could be wrong.

What I noticed was during the epic fight in the trailer, they never stumble over Budd's body. And couldn't she have taken both swords? Seems like she only took one.
