Paul and Blaze

Why aren't Paul Di'Anno and Blaze Bayley listed in the IMDB credits for this movie? Paul's in two videos and Blaze in a few more I think...

reply

Blaze Bayley and Paul Di'Anno aren't the only ones who aren't on, Dennis Stratton (replaced by Adrian Smith) was in one video and Clive Burr (replaced by Nicko McBrain) was in a few Iron Maiden video's and they aren't given on either!

reply

They Are The Forgotten Ones.

Blaze Was *beep* So It's Okay Not To Credit Him.
And Dianno Wasn't As Good Either

And Anyways. IMDb Is Created By Internet Users, Us.
So Why Don't you Update It?

Blaze is a good singer

However, his vocal style does not suit Iron Maiden. Quite alot of the song's he performed on wer every good, but his style wasn't suited to it

reply

That is true, and he's a great songwriter as well. Even though he doesn't have the high voice of Bruce, but who does? Blaze can do Afraid to Shoot Strangers greatly on the DVD.

Blaze Bayley is an excellent singer, having heard his solo albums since he left Maiden, it blows Iron Maiden's last two albums away, try listening to Brave New Work or Dance of Death then listen to Silicon Messiah and you'll be in for a shock.

So Blaze's voice wasn't holding up on the Futureal tour, Bruce Dickinson's voice was terrible on the Dance Of Death album and on the tour it was even worse, Maiden just copped out because they weren't bringing in the high crods and where forced to play smaller venues, then when Bruce came back all the band wagons jumpers, jamp back onto the Maiden band wagon and the started playing larger venues again.

I like Iron Maiden, but frankly Bruce Dickinson's voice isn't suited for huge world tours anymore, his voice has gone back to what it was like back in the early 90's when he hurt his throat, he can't hack big tours anymore, and that's not good for Iron Maiden if they want to continue doing world tours like they do.

I bet Blaze would've gotten used to the huge ammount of touring given time, but I guess we'll never know since the fired him.

Don't get me worng, I'm a hige Maiden fan and I love everything they have done. I have seen them with both Bruce and Blaze and they always put on an awesome show. To say Bruce's voice isn't suited to huge world tours anymore is complete bollocks.

Blaze got a rough deal, he had big shoes to fill and hie arrival co-incided with Steve Harris' divorce and a bad time in his life when he decided to write a lot of slower and darker songs (X-Factor). I think the X-Factor is good, but honsetly is doesn't stand up to other Maiden albums and the songs are quite samey and some are pretty weak. If Bruce had sung on the X-Factor, I would think the same thing, I just don't think it was a good album, the singer had nothing to do with it. I saw Blaze with the band on the X-FacTour in 1996 and I like they guy, but he can't sing Maiden's songs. Blaze has a great voice, Wolfsbane and his solo stuff is great, but he just can;t sing Maiden songs. The gig was very poor and the crowd weren't interested.

Virtual XI was a bad album with a few good songs. It had a lot of filler. The singing was good, the songs were bad. The resulting tours had lesser ticket sales (with the exception of some European countires and South America). Blaze still couldn;t sing the old Maiden stuff well enough, so it was time for him to go. Bruce came back by mutual agreement because he wanted to do metal again and Maiden needed a singer to replace Blaze.

To say people are rifing the Maiden band Wagon just because Bruce is back is stupid. If this is true, they've been riding the band wagon for over 5 years now, to me 5 years is not a passing trend. The tour with Bruce back in 1999 was a huge success, the sales of Brave New World and its critical acclaim were a huge success. The BNW tour was a massive success, the release of the Rock in Rio DVD had massice success. Maiden then dud another huge headlinging 'Give me Ed 'till I'm dead' tour to huge success, headlinging a few major rock festivals along the way. Then Maiden had some time off and recorded Dance of Death, which sold well, had critical acclaim and then proceeded on another huge successful world tour with massive ticket sales. That's a hell of a 'band wagon'. In my experience 'Band Wagons' run stale after few months or a year. Not 5 years of acclaimed success. Since Bruce re-joined in 1999, they have had a period of success and aclaim the same as when he joined in 1982.

Maiden's success since Bruce and Adrian's return is due to the band getting new energy, writing new albums that stand up to their older material and sounding as good as ever on tour. I know I saw them 5 times last year and have seen them in excess of 30 times since Donington 1992.

I like Blaze, I accept he got a rough deal, but at the end of the day he just wasn't up to the job. He had his fun and I've read enough interviews with him to know he has no hard feelings. Good luck to Blaze in his Solo career and if he ever decides to reform Wolfsbane, I would be very happy. Good luck to Maiden in their continued success which they work hard ofr and deserve.

I'm sick and tired of people slagging off Blaze because of his vocal range. He doesn't have what Bruce has or had, (ever listened to No Prayer from the Dying? No?) Bruce can't sign songs from Paul era and have you heard Bruce sign Lord of the Flies on the new live album?

I am evil, Iron Maiden and Iced Earth have gotton to me... And I like it!

I guess I'm the only one who likes Blaze the best...

The X Factor is one of the best albums EVER.

I used to think that Blaze sucked really bad, but ever since I heard his solo stuff, I've started to like the guy more and more every day. He performed Maiden songs with his solo band on his As Live As It Gets album way better than Maiden ever did on The X Factor and Virtual XI. The best Maiden vocalist is still Bruce, but the only one who ever sucked was Paul Di'Anno. He looked kinda weird too - rather short curly hear and earrings. Blaze, in the other hand, always looks cool, especially in The Angel And The Gambler video, anyone agree?

So, another Blaze fan here.

X Factor is an absolutely incredible album in all ways. Virtual XI tried to go to a more classic Maiden sound and THAT is the one that exposed the incompatibility of his voice with the band. It still had a few really good songs though. You'll notice that when Bruce sings Blaze's songs he kinda sounds like crap too. They are very different singers, but both are excellent.

X Factor was a very complex and dense album that requires a lot of attention when listening to it which turned off the fans of Bruce's air raid siren and the more straightforward (as much as you can actually say that about a band as intelligent as Maiden anyway) sounds of the "classic years".
