I just saw this last night! Why did a shark just attack all of a sudden?

They had been swimming around the sharks for days. In fact there was a big deal made by Bryce & Amanda before they decided to brave it & dive in, Bryce even took the mop as a weapon that a shark took off him!!!
It just doesnt make sense!!

Tigers attack ANYTHING.

"They sucked his brains out!"

It attacked because it was probably hungry. Swimming with man eating sharks is like rolling a dice - eventually you are going to meet up with a shark that is hungry or just very curious as to what you taste like. But don't worry - they just want only a small bite to find out what you are like!

It was two different kinds of sharks. The ones they were swimming with in the daytime scene were smaller, although I don't know what kind they are. Tiger sharks are more likely to hunt at night and they tend to be loners. So, the other sharks were perfectly safe; it was the one tiger shark that dangerous.

did they even bury her? have a service? they seemed to go to the hospital & find out she's dead & then adios!

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "... I drank what?"

reply

They probably would have buried her back home.

reply

i hope someone did something for her!

Find and watch "Anatomy of a Shark Bite" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377370/

Bryce did not seem even upset .

Sharks do odd things occasionally. A recent report talked about two divers just looking around on the bottom. A huge shark swan casually by and without stopping bit off the head of one of the divers and swan away slowly not eating it.

He knew her for 5 days!

Dea ex Machina: a god comes to the rescue.

The shark was written into the script, and being a well-mannered sort, he willingly obliged.
I thought the shark attack was well done, personally.

Actually, the sharks that appear in most of the movie I thing they are Bull sharks, known for being agressive. Maybe responsible for most of the near-shore attacks. So I don't know if they say truth on the movie.

just saw it on wikipedia

When we went to the Blue Hole in Belize, there were Bull Sharks everywhere. The company we went with said to not worry about them, as they were docile. We didn't know much about sharks at the time, so we trusted their "professional" opinion.

I didn't dive, because I hadn't been that deep before (no more than 80, and that dive was 140). My husband went down with the group, swimming past the sharks. He said that when they did their safety stop, they were surrounded by Bull Sharks.

I spent the entire time snorkeling by myself, enjoying the reef and enjoying the sharks swimming right below me (quite a few, swimming in circles around the hole). I did feel weird, because even though I knew there was someone on the boat, I never saw him for the entire dive (and there was maybe only one other boat in sight that day). I could have drowned or been eaten and they wouldn't have known until everyone came up from the dive.

Later, we looked up Bull Sharks and realized that they are in the top five list of the most aggressive sharks. Sheesh. Ok, I know that probably hundreds of people dive the hole every day, and people aren't being attacked left and right, but it would have been nice to have been more informed.

I think sharks mainly feed at night, so that might explain why she got bitten when she did.

The sharks they are usually diving with are Caribbean Reef Sharks and Blacktips. The shark that attacks the girl is a Tiger Shark, which is the type of shark that Jessica Alba's character tells them they need to watch out for when Scott Caan's character is freaking out.

I was wondering if the coke affected them - makes as much sense plot wise as just a different species happening by. Of course once there is blood in the water all bets are off.

That is possible. The sharks were reef sharks as someone else already mentioned. The shark that attacked Amanda was most likely a Tiger. She was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
