I literally just saw this (for the first time).
I blind bought this movie, last year. I was in Arkansas with one of my grandmothers. She, her sister, and I are Christian. She was getting a present for her sister, so we went to a Christian store to see what they would have. I checked out the movies and I saw the DVD for this movie on the shelf. I remembered that my seventh favorite actor, Daniel Kash, was in it. So I bought it. It's funny, because my purchase took place exactly one year ago today.
Man, oh, man. I really enjoyed this movie. I rate it 10/10 and it's my second favorite movie. My most favorite movie is Alice in Wonderland (1985). I did not think that I would like it that much. It was very well made. Henry Ian Cusick was born to play Jesus Christ. Christopher Plummer done the narration for the film and he had the perfect voice for it. I thought the part, when Simon Peter denied knowing Jesus Christ gave me chills, especially, when the rooster crowed. The look on Simon Peter's face was memorable. I was emotionally drained, while watching this movie.
These parts made me cry:
- The crucifixion
- Jesus dying on the cross
- A solider stabbing Jesus' body with a spear
- The crowd threatening to stone Jesus a second time.
- After some of Jesus followers left Him, Jesus says to His disciples, "And you... would you also like to leave?" Simon Peter replies, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. And now we believe and know... that you are the Holy One... who has come from God."
This movie made me get out my old bible, The Hosanna Bible. This book was given to me by the same grandmother. It also made me do research to how Simon Peter died (Jesus cryptically told Simon Peter how he was going to die). Simon Peter was crucified. He felt unworthy to die in the same way as his master, so he was crucified upside down.
