thats the point its a childrens version of romeo and juliet its tired its a classic. the cast is great and my 5 year oldlves this movie. its a kids movie its supposed to be simple to understand so the kiddies will enjoy it. the animation was good, no not pixar good, but they put alot of details. i love the elton john songs too, it brings that generation of music to kids which i think should be done more.

That doesn't mean it has to be a bad film. My Neighbour Totoro is simple to understand and yet people of all ages will love it. I really wish people would stop defending this film by saying that "it's just a kids movie" - are you saying that kids are stupid, or something? I remember watching Watership Down with my cousins at the age of seven and understanding everything that happened - and I'm sure that other seven year-olds would, too. Excusing the film's faults because it's "for the kids" is a pathetic excuse.

shareI'm not attacking you, I'm saying that you shouldn't be an apologist by saying things like "it's just for kids" - so what if it's just for kids? That doesn't excuse it from being a mediocre film.

I work with kids from kindergarten through 5th and they all, boys and girls, love it! (We're actually watching it as I type this.) I don't get why it has such a low rating.
