NINE writers credited?

It actually has 15 writing credits (apart from the obvious Shakespeare one), but a few people are overlapping on "story", "screenplay", and "original screenplay", so it comes down to a still-impressive NINE different people credited for writing this. I understand that it's not unusual for a script to undergo several rewrites by various writers, especially if it is in development for a long time, but they don't usually all end up credited. What on earth happened here?

What happened here is that the producers were unusually FAIR and gave credit where it was due. MOST movies have multiple writers who don't get the credit they deserve.

Maybe writers kept quitting once they realized the true nature of the film.
