Far too much Elton John

Watched this over the weekend with my kids.
Wasn't that impressed with the story but what really annoyed me was the constant Elton John soundtrack.

Its actually put me off his music for life.

It's "Romeo and Juliet" for kids, how can you not be impressed with the story?

reply

Elton is trying to make better history by networking with Shakespeare. lol That's all.

I've got to agree with the OP. There was WAY TOO MUCH Elton John. By the end I was cringing every time another EJ song came on. The story isn't so bad for kids, but the soundtrack ruined it for me. Not sure why the writers thought outdated 70's music that today's kids have never heard would match well with a Disneyfied gnome version of Romeo and Juliet? It's the biggest misfire of the movie and the music pretty much guarantees there will be no DVD purchase or multiple viewings for us.

Wow, Soju King, such insightful comments nearly 2 years after the movie was a theatrical hit and has been a successful DVD for almost as long.

You must be some sort of professional industry analyst.

Lol. Also, some EJ tunes like "Your Song" is timeless, covered amazingly by Ewan McGregor in Moulin Rouge! and constantly sung on shows like American Idol. Today's generation is well aware of Elton John classics, thank you.

It's so fluffy, I'm gonna die!

I'm pretty sure the movie/storyline was his idea and part of his idea was to set the movie to HIS music. There is supposed to be a sequel, and my son and I will definitely see it. Looking forward to the movie and to more of Elton's beautiful music.
