remake of 1962 movie

Im suprised that nobody has mentioned that this is a remake of a movie called "Gigot", in which Jackie Gleason starred. I didn't see this version, and was wondering what the differences are. While I like William Macey's work, there is no way he'd be as good as "The Great One". Don't even go there! I'm trying to find a copy of the original, but am having no luck. If anybody knows where it might be found, please post.
