Stupid name change

Gigot is one of my all-time favorite movies. I like William H. Macy's work and would have liked to see him try the title role. However, with its title of "The Wool Cap," I ignored this movie when it was released -- I had no idea that it was Jackie Gleason's story, "Gigot." Changing an immediately recognizable title to something as forgettable and artsy-fartsy as "The Wool Cap" for fear that an American audience might have trouble with that silent "t" in Gigot's name was incredibly stupid.

Although I haven't seen the original, I like the name. During the first half of the movie, I was wondering why the movie was called The Wool Cap (other than that the main character was wearing a wool cap) and when the scene came that explained the importance of the hat, it was both an Aha! moment and very emotional. I found it to be a very appropriate title, even more appropriate considering that his name was hardly ever mentioned.

I'm watching it now. I think I missed the explanation. My guess is it was the 9 yr old girl who died in the auto accident.

Surely you can't be serious.
I am serious, and don't call me Shirley
