I've seen this movie at a press screening in Switzerland.

I don't think it's sad. I'd describe it maybe more like "bitter-sweet with a twist of melancholy". It will also bring a smile to your face. I've been raised without a father, so this movie about a man looking for a child he didn't know he has, struck a special chord in my heart.

All characters are interesting and the whole cast is simply outstanding. Sam Shepard doesn't need hours of dialogue. He can manage with a single look, a shrug or a nod with his head and tell you his whole lifestory with it.

Also you'll get to see your alltime favourite actors like George Kennedy, Tim Roth or Eva Marie Saint in supporting roles. And if you ask me: Sam Shepard and Jessica Lange could sit at a table in that restaurant for hours and hours, just staring at each other, and you'd still care for their characters and couldn't take your eyes off them.

I'll certainly go to see this movie again when it will run regularly in the cinema. It maybe a small, independent, low budget production, but it's a well craftet little gem. Wim Wenders and Sam Shepard struck gold again.
