H.P Lovecraft

This movie definately made me think of the work of H.P Lovecraft. The book that brings people back to life, the really disturbing creatures, the just plain weirdness of it all. All of it was straight out of Lovecraft. I wonder if the writer was influenced by that

This movie isn't by far near the greatness and actual sense of dread and horror of Lovecraft's works. The movie was just confusing with things thrown in a jumble and the different plot threads were never completed.

to some extent, i'd say so. i'm at work & don't have the interview to refer to, but the movie's creator(s?) cited lovecraft's influence in a fangoria piece a few months ago.

After seeing the movie I scoured the net looking for something to indicate a relation to Lovecraft. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but it seems that all the best parts of his stories were thrown together for this one.

The book that 'brings people back to life' would probably be the one from his storey called "The Necronomicon".

Not HP Lovecraft directly but a known associate Robert E Howard wrote a similar story..Both had written many stories about haunted places. In any event, it would appear the movie explains itself

Not quite so chilling as Lovecraft. But I think you might be right. There is some of his influence possibly at work in this film.
