This says it all!

This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he?

Read on, please!

IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11,
we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However...... the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America LEGALLY. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans......
we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

While it may not be the "official language" the majority of Americans speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women.......on Christian principles............. founded this nation..... and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it
on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home.........because God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you
should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, but we really enjoy learning about your culture and even celebrating and joining in on parts of your culture. Although, we will never change our's to accomodate your's. If you want to be immersed in your culture, then do it in your country.

This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so! But once you are done complaining....... whining...... and griping...... about our flag....... our pledge...... our national motto.......or our way of life....I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other Great American Freedom.......

THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

It is Time for America to Speak up

"because God is part of our culture." lol
"have no desire to change" obviously...
"This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought MONEY." lol

There are huge faults from both sides, but world is about unity, embracing what you are and what others are, you are a "multicultural community" therefore you have to embrace that instead of moaning out loud...writing angry stuff won't help to add your AMERICA label to people who loves their roots and origins, but i agree they have to set their minds to a possitive change so life in your country wont be that bad...
When you stop thinking we're worst, we will change to hug you.

What you want is a conditional way for people to behave while in America to protect our sovereignty? I've heard these arguments before and it's a bit ridiculous. The only way you can get people to abide by the things stated in your post is by changing laws and tearing down principles that this country was founded on. America has always been a sprawling evolving mesh of culture and humanity. There have been generations of Americans who feel they are more entitled or better than the next group of immigrants coming to the States legally or illegally. To me that is misplaced patriotism; and the immigration issue doesn't matter because you have to be able enforce a law for it to work which we are not able to do so crying about "illegals" is even worse. It is what it is.

I've got an idea for you, I think you should exercise your right to leave. That's right! Why don't you get on a plane and travel to another country and live there for awhile so you can broaden your perspective. I'm so tired of running into people who have never seen the world and completely depend on the television to base their "world view". Your just another bad sheep who doesn't understand other cultures. I am an American and I travel abroad to work so I have to deal with the world. I can say, I definitely have a better understanding of different cultures and what I no longer have is this whining myopic superiority complex that you obviously have and don't you hide behind patriotism either because to me your argument about telling people that they have the right to the First Amendment but then they have the right to leave is not being patriotic and true to the American way. Your message contradicts itself. That's not what America was founded on. If you disagree with me, then you don't want an America, you want something you don't understand. Two words pal, GROW UP!

Nobody is stopping anyone from coming here and becoming part of the "sprawling evolving mesh of culture and humanity". What I want is for the ones that do come here to do it legally and pay their taxes here so I don't have to pay extra to take care of their education, medical care and feeding their anchor babies. Most other countries in the world have standards for who they let come in, and they make sure that its not criminals or someone that can't contribute to society. They have laws and enforce them. You should know that from all of your extensive travel for work. Why do we have to let anyone in when the rest of the world doesn't?

We can enforce our own laws if we wanted to, but there are so many bleeding heart Liberals that don't understand that some laws are there to protect, not to illegally profile. Also, the Republicans love having that cheap labor. Neither side wants to fix this horrible situation, that is why the government won't enforce the laws, not that they can't.

I got news for you, I have been to other countries as a matter of fact. I have traveled to Mexico and several countries in Europe and Asia. So don't go thinking that just because I don't like ILLEGAL immigration that is destroying this country from the inside out, that it means that I have the same myopic superiority complex that the rest of the world has.

I minored in Latin American Studies and can speak Spanish almost fluently. I think I have a pretty good grasp of what goes on outside our borders. I don't watch TV for my "world view", I read about World news and events from many different sources so I get the whole story and not a biased look from one side or the other. So I know that Mexico has a corrupt government and they love to drop their trash over the border because if they stayed in Mexico then there could be a Revolucion. If Mexico is so great that they celebrate it here, then why did they leave.

I got an idea. Why don't they stand up for their rights as MEXICAN citizens and fight for their rights their in that supposed Democratic country. Ever heard of the Civil Rights movement? It can happen. Sure, it will take hard work and, gasp!, sacrifice, but don't you think it will be worth it? Stay in your own country and fight to be treated equally instead of going to another country to clean toilets for someone that doesn't want you there.

Yes, I know that there are immigrants other than from Mexico, but just because of the location and ease of access, most of them are Mexican.
